Fortune #27
Mixed — reflect carefully
If you copy every word, there may be little room to ask what it means. After one section, write a short summary in your own words; useful notes should bring the reasoning back, not record every sound.

STORY & REFLECTION
One Word That Carried the Point
Sparta's Short Answer · a published tale
In a published tale, King Philip threatens Sparta: “If” he enters its land, he will destroy its city. The Spartans send back a single word: “If.”
That answer does not give the whole military history. It identifies the word on which the threat depends. The longest part of a message is not always its central point.
Copying every word of a lesson can bury that point. Listen or read for what is being claimed, then write it in your own words. Examples can follow afterward.
After a page, try one sentence beginning “The point is...” If you cannot find it, revisit the reasoning instead of copying another page.
