Mixed — reflect carefully
If a new method feels unfamiliar, give it a fair trial before replacing it. Try it on comparable topics and judge by what you can explain or solve afterward, not only by how easy it felt.

STORY & REFLECTION
A Study Method Needs a Fair Trial
Evidence-based study methods · research review
Imagine a learner changing methods daily: rereading on Monday, flashcards on Tuesday, and a new video on Wednesday, without checking whether they can answer any more questions. This is an illustrative scene.
A research review finds that study methods differ in effectiveness and conditions matter. Changing everything at once makes it hard to tell what helped and what simply felt easier.
A fair trial need not take forever. Try one method a few times on comparable topics and use a small set of questions to check what you can recall. Enjoyment alone may not tell the whole story.
Before changing methods, decide what result you will look for. Give the method a reasonable chance, then keep it, adjust it, or move on using evidence rather than impatience.
Reflection
A new method needs a fair trial before judgment.
A small action today
Try one method three times and record the result.
A question to reflect on
What evidence would tell you whether this method helps?
