STORY & REFLECTION
Help named out loud
Guidance-based illustration · Help named out loud
Illustrative scene: Someone cares for a parent, works, and manages the home. When asked how things are, they say they are fine despite missed personal appointments and little rest.
They ask a trusted person to buy groceries Thursday and stay with the parent for an hour. The other person can say what is possible. The whole load remains, but it is no longer held in one head.
The NIH notes that caregiving can strain health and suggests asking for help, sharing tasks, and finding workable breaks. Asking others to help does not mean abandoning the person receiving care.
Naming a task and time gives others a way to step in.
