STORY & REFLECTION
Repeated humiliation is not a small matter
Research-based illustration · Belittling and emotional abuse
Illustrative scene: Whenever someone offers an opinion, their partner says they are too stupid to understand. In company, the partner calls it a joke.
They begin staying quiet even on subjects they know well. A friend helps them notice how often this happens. Seeing the pattern clearly can support a request for help without waiting for worse harm.
The Hotline includes belittling, humiliation, threats, and control among forms of abuse that may leave no physical mark. Looking at the repeated pattern matters more than judging the situation by one apology or one good period.
A repeated “joke” that silences you is a pattern worth noticing. You may tell someone you trust.
