STORY & REFLECTION
The promise of a lifetime
Guidance-based illustration · The promise of a lifetime
Illustrative scene: A bottle shop advertises “never leaks for life,” while the maker covers only the lid for a limited period. A buyer assumes even a dent from a fall qualifies for replacement.
The owner reads the maker's terms, rewrites the claim with covered parts, duration, and verifiable exceptions, and gives support staff the same wording.
The FTC says advertising claims should be truthful, not misleading, and supported by evidence. That principle gives sellers a way to check photos, descriptions, and guarantees before publishing.
A narrower true promise avoids a larger disappointment.
