Fortune #03

Illustrative scene: One person always sends the monthly client report on time. When they are ill, the team finds several old files and cannot tell where the current data lives.

After returning, they write a one-page process with the main file link and a total-checking step. A teammate tries it, exposing the parts that still need explanation.

GitLab's handbook describes keeping work practices in an accessible shared source that teammates can update. Current documentation reduces dependence on any one person's memory.

Good documentation need not capture every thought. It should let the next person begin without waiting for your return.
